Cancún, Quintana Roo — A foreign tourist died on Sunday afternoon while engaging in water activities near Calinda Bridge in the Hotel Zone. The incident occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m., when the visitor entered the water to swim.

According to preliminary information, the woman experienced a sudden discomfort related to a pre-existing condition. This condition prevented her from staying afloat and caused her to faint, at which point the current began to carry her away without her being able to get out on her own.

Boat operators in the area observed the situation and moved to assist her. After locating her, they managed to pull her from the water and brought her to a nearby dock to request medical attention.

Paramedics from a private company arrived at the site and conducted a rapid evaluation. Upon completion, they confirmed that the tourist no longer showed signs of life. No other people were affected during the emergency.

Elements of the State Attorney General’s Office went to the location to take note of the case and gather necessary information. Subsequently, they ordered the transfer of the body to the Forensic Medical Service, where corresponding procedures will be carried out to formally determine the causes of death.

The Calinda Bridge area is a spot frequented by visitors who engage in recreational swimming and various water activities due to its proximity to tourist routes. Following the incident, operations in the area continued normally, with no reports of additional impacts.

At this time, the personal details of the victim have not been released, pending official notification to her family. Authorities are maintaining routine procedures to complete the case file.
