Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — A foreign tourist died after suffering a medical emergency inside a commercial establishment on Avenida Rueda Medina in the island zone of Isla Mujeres, authorities reported.

The report mobilized officers from the Municipal Public Security and Traffic Department along with emergency crews, who rushed to the business to provide first aid to the visitor.

According to preliminary information, the man may have suffered a heart attack, though officials said that account must be confirmed through medical and forensic examinations.

Emergency crews found no vital signs

On arrival, emergency responders carried out resuscitation efforts, but the tourist was subsequently confirmed to have no vital signs.

Following the death, municipal officers secured the scene and notified the relevant authorities so that the procedures set out in established protocols could begin.

The Municipal Public Security and Traffic Department worked with the corresponding agencies to assist with the investigation and preserve the area while the official cause of death is determined.

Officials have so far released no further details about the tourist’s identity or the specific circumstances that led to the death.
