Heroic Playa del Carmen Fire Rescue Saves Girl and Pup

Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Personnel from the Fire Department of the Secretariat of Civil Protection, Risk Prevention, and Firefighters of Solidaridad successfully rescued a five-year-old girl and a puppy during a fire reported on Monday morning in a residence in the Pescadores neighborhood of Playa del Carmen.

The emergency report was attended to immediately by emergency units, who upon arriving at the location found the property engulfed in smoke. With the support of hydraulic tools and through rapid maneuvers, firefighters opened a window to access the interior and rescue the minor, who was conscious and had no visible injuries.

The girl was placed under the custody of the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender-Based Violence (GEAVIG) while efforts to extinguish the fire and secure the area were carried out. During the intervention, a puppy that was trapped inside the home was also rescued.

According to the preliminary report, the incident originated from a pot of water left forgotten on the stove, which caused the container to overheat and led to the spread of smoke.

Thanks to the rapid response of the emergency crews, the fire was controlled without greater material damage or any victims to lament.

Municipal authorities reiterated their commitment to the protection of life and the security of Playa del Carmen families, highlighting that the personnel of Civil Protection and Firefighters remain active 24 hours a day, ready to respond to any emergency and prevent risks in the community.
