Tulum Supermarket Warehouse Fire Quickly Contained

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A fire broke out in a warehouse of the Soriana supermarket in Tulum during the early hours of Tuesday, mobilizing emergency crews who successfully contained the blaze before it could spread further.

Incident Details

The fire was reported around 3:00 a.m. at the supermarket located on the Tulum-Cobá state highway at kilometer 1.2, near Juncal Street and an access point leading to an irregular settlement. Preliminary reports indicate that a 911 call alerted authorities to smoke emanating from one of the store’s doors.

Responding units included personnel from Civil Protection, the Heroic Fire Department, and the Municipal Preventive Police. Firefighters entered the building with specialized equipment to locate and extinguish the flames. While the source of the fire was not visible from outside, thick black smoke was observed coming from an undetermined area inside the premises.

No Injuries Reported

No injuries or emergency evacuations were reported, though paramedics from Salud y Vida were on standby in case medical attention was required. The fire was swiftly controlled, and crews remained on-site to ventilate the area and assess potential risks.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection will conduct an investigation to identify the origin of the blaze and evaluate possible safety protocol failures or liabilities.
