Cancún, December 19, 2025. – Passenger transportation operations at Cancún International Airport and the Maya Train terminal are moving toward a stage of greater order and clarity for users, following the installation of informational signs and the presence of fully identified personnel who provide guidance about authorized services at both terminals.
Differences Between Federal Transportation and Local Service
The actions are part of the regulation process that distinguishes federal transportation from the public service that operates within the city.
While taxis and other urban services have state permits and can only provide service locally, companies working at the airport and railway terminal must comply with federal authorizations.
This differentiation aims to avoid confusion among visitors and residents, in addition to clearly delineating what type of transportation can offer transfers to and from facilities considered under federal jurisdiction.
Mandatory Identification and Increased User Information
At both terminals, the visibility of official information has been increased. Users can now more easily identify authorized companies, either through signs, information modules, or personnel wearing badges, which allows verification that the contracted service complies with corresponding regulations.
These measures come after a period marked by conflicts and tensions among different transportation providers, stemming mainly from a lack of clarity about competencies and permits.
Regulation After Years of Conflicts
The reinforcement of regulation aims to reduce irregular practices and provide greater certainty to both passengers and formal operators.
The intention is for federal transportation to operate under clear rules, differentiated from urban service, and for users to have sufficient elements to choose a safe and authorized transfer.
With this, authorities and companies seek to close a stage of disputes in strategic areas like the airport and Maya Train terminal, consolidating a more orderly mobility scheme in one of the country’s main tourist destinations.
