Benito Juárez, Quintana Roo — In immediate response to a citizen complaint received through the public audience “La Voz del Pueblo” of Governor Mara Lezama, the Secretary of Environment (SEMA), headed by Oscar Rébora, coordinated a supervision and response operation in Laguna Chacmuchuch and surrounding areas.
In conjunction with the Municipality of Benito Juárez, through its Directorate of Ecology, SIRESOL, and the Municipal Police, clandestine dumps, garbage burning, irregular constructions and invasions, as well as various sources of contamination affecting this ecosystem were identified.
During the actions, one person was caught in the act transporting a truck full of construction debris, which was secured and made available to the corresponding authorities.
Closures were also imposed at several points where illegal activities were detected, where authorities will provide precise follow-up to guarantee sanitation, restoration, and environmental control work in the lagoon.
As is already a premise of this government, the work had the support of neighbors in the area.
The State Government reaffirms its commitment to environmental surveillance, attention to citizen complaints, and coordination with municipal authorities to protect the ecosystems of Quintana Roo.
