Emergency personnel assisting an elderly woman found in a jungle area near Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A 75-year-old woman with hearing and speech disabilities was found alive Tuesday morning after spending hours lost in a jungle area near Nuevo Noh Bec, authorities said.

The woman went missing from her home Monday afternoon, prompting a search operation led by emergency services, police officers, and Mexican Army personnel.

During the night, search teams combed roads, trails, and brushland around the community. They eventually found the woman walking, disoriented and showing clear signs of exhaustion.

Red Cross paramedics treated her for dehydration, lacerations, and multiple insect bites. She was then taken to a hospital for further medical evaluation.

Relatives thanked authorities and volunteers for their swift response, which they said prevented a tragedy and allowed the woman to return home safely.

Officials urged the public to report missing persons immediately, especially when elderly or vulnerable individuals are involved.
