Cancún, Quintana Roo — A trial judge in Quintana Roo has sentenced 68-year-old Nicasio Fernández Morales to 35 years in prison for the rape of a four-year-old boy. In addition to the prison term, the convicted man was ordered to pay a fine of 125,000 pesos.

Quintana Roo State Attorney General Raciel López Salazar confirmed the ruling, emphasizing that prosecutors pursued the case with the full force of the law to protect the dignity and rights of the victim.

Details of the Crime

The incident occurred at a ranch along the federal highway to Leona Vicario in the municipality of Benito Juárez. Fernández Morales worked as a night watchman at the property and lived on-site alongside the victim’s family, who were employed as maintenance workers.

According to investigations, the child wandered outside while his mother rested after a work shift. Fernández Morales lured the boy to a secluded area under false pretenses and sexually assaulted him. After the assault, he allegedly attempted to intimidate the child into silence.

The mother, noticing her son’s absence and the watchman’s disappearance, began searching the property. Upon hearing the child crying, she located the area where the assault occurred and caught Fernández Morales in the act.

“The suspect tried to justify his actions, claiming he was merely checking the boy because he had complained about an insect bite,” stated Attorney General López Salazar.

Family members who arrived at the scene detained Fernández Morales and turned him over to authorities.

Prosecutors presented compelling evidence during the trial, securing the conviction while ensuring the rights of the child and his family were upheld throughout the judicial process.

The case highlights the severity with which Quintana Roo’s justice system addresses crimes against minors, particularly those involving sexual violence.
