Cancún, Mexico — Eight individuals were formally charged in Cancún for crimes against public health, following their arrests in operations carried out across various city districts. The Quintana Roo State Attorney General's Office presented evidence that allowed control judges to order pre-trial detention as a precautionary measure for three of the accused.
According to official information, stemming from the arrest in flagrante delicto of Zaida Rocío “N” and Fernando Valier “N” in Supermanzana 96, both were indicted for crimes against public health. The woman faces charges for the supply of the narcotics cannabis sativa and cocaine, while the man was charged with possession with intent to supply the same substances. Both were placed under the justified precautionary measure of pre-trial detention for the duration of their legal proceedings.
In a second action, Eduardo “N” and Luis Antonio “N” were charged for crimes against public health in the modality of drug trafficking. The first was detained on Jabín Street 9, between Chichén Itzá Avenue and Jabín Street, in Supermanzana 23, accused of possession with intent to supply cannabis sativa and cocaine. Like the previous individuals, he will remain in pre-trial detention.
For his part, Marcos Geovany “N” was detained on Págalo Street at the corner of Chac Mool Avenue, in Supermanzana 253, and charged for possession of the narcotic known as cannabis sativa.
Finally, Cristian Eduardo “N” and Daniel “N” received their binding-over order for trial for drug trafficking; the first for the variant of supply of marijuana and methamphetamine, and the second for possession with intent to supply the same narcotics.
With these actions, the State Attorney General's Office reiterated its commitment to combat drug trafficking in Quintana Roo and to continue with investigations to halt the distribution of drugs in urban areas of the municipality.
