Over 60 people trained in snakebite prevention in Playa del Carmen
In an effort to enhance environmental education and community safety, the Eco-Bahía Foundation and the Mexican Red Cross have joined forces to offer the training session “Snakebite Accidents: Prevention and First Aid.” Led by biologist Isabel Hernández, the workshop provided key tools to over 60 participants on how to identify, prevent, and respond to snake encounters in the region.
Snakebite accidents, caused by venomous snake bites, can range from mild reactions to severe, life-threatening conditions. In many cases, these incidents occur due to a lack of knowledge about local species and the appropriate response when encountering these reptiles. The training focused on prevention strategies, recognizing envenomation symptoms, and applying effective first-aid measures.
“At Eco-Bahía, we believe that knowledge is one of the most powerful tools for conservation and well-being. Through educational programs like this, we aim to empower the community with life-saving information while fostering harmony with our natural environment,” said Luis Verdin, Manager of the Eco-Bahía Foundation Mexico.
This event is part of the Foundation’s Environmental Education Program, which promotes awareness and responsible action in conservation and safety. The Mexican Red Cross in Playa del Carmen expressed gratitude for this collaboration, emphasizing the critical role of education in risk prevention within the community.
Through initiatives like this, Eco-Bahía reaffirms its commitment to making a positive impact through knowledge and action, contributing to both public well-being and ecological balance.
