A black Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV with severe front-end damage after crashing into a bus on Kabah Avenue in Cancún

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A speeding driver lost control of his SUV and crashed into a passenger bus on Tuesday morning, causing significant damage and blocking traffic on a major Cancún avenue.

The accident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on Kabah Avenue, just past the intersection with 20 de Noviembre Avenue, near the Paseos Kabah neighborhood in Supermanzana 224.

According to traffic officials who investigated the scene, the driver of a black Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling south to north on Kabah Avenue at excessive speed. As he passed through the traffic light at 20 de Noviembre Avenue, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

The SUV spun approximately 90 degrees before crashing into the right rear side of a Del Valle company passenger bus that was traveling alongside it.

The violent impact severely damaged the front of the SUV, and both vehicles ended up blocking the roadway, obstructing traffic flow.

Witnesses who saw the accident called emergency services, and private paramedics arrived shortly afterward to provide pre-hospital care to those involved.

Emergency responders evaluated the SUV driver, who fortunately did not sustain serious injuries and did not require hospital transport. Paramedics also examined the bus driver, identified as 28-year-old Rosalino Hernández Córdoba, who also did not need clinic treatment.

Due to the traffic disruption, traffic officers completed their investigation as quickly as possible and ordered both vehicles towed to an impound lot. Both drivers were taken to the traffic department to determine responsibility for the accident.
