Cancún, Mexico — A double homicide was registered this afternoon in Cancún: two men were found dead just meters from the main entrance of the Javier Rojo Gómez secondary school, located in the Supermanzana 228 district of Cancún. The attack occurred in a high-traffic area for students and teachers, creating moments of tension inside and outside the educational facility.
According to initial reports, two armed individuals arrived at the corner of 75th and 84th streets, where they held a brief exchange of words with the victims before shooting them directly. Following the assault, the attackers fled, allegedly towards 20 de Noviembre Avenue, while neighbors alerted emergency services after hearing the detonations.
Victims Died at the Scene
Municipal Police officers arrived shortly before 4:00 p.m. and found the two men unconscious on the public street. One was wearing a black t-shirt and Bermuda shorts; the other, a blue t-shirt and denim pants. Paramedics confirmed that both had died almost instantly due to the severity of their wounds.
The crime scene was placed under guard, and the bodies, still unidentified, were transported to the Forensic Medical Service for the legally required autopsy.
Search Operation and Two People Detained
Monitoring by the C5 security command center allowed for the tracking of the possible escape route of the perpetrators. Preliminarily, it was reported that the aggressors allegedly separated after the attack: one headed towards Supermanzana 226 and the other towards Supermanzana 245. This information led to the detention of two people in those zones.
Although it has not been officially confirmed that they are the material authors of the double homicide, both will be presented before the Public Prosecutor's Office. In the coming hours, it will be determined if there is sufficient evidence to link them to the events.
Investigation Ongoing
Ministerial agents conducted interviews with neighbors in the area and began reviewing nearby security cameras to obtain evidence that would help clarify what occurred. Authorities have not ruled out any line of investigation at this time.
