Couple Executed in Cancún in Suspected Drug Score-Settling

Crime scene in Cancún where a couple was executed

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Hitmen shot a couple at point-blank range on Monday morning in a suspected score-settling related to drug trafficking offenses. The incident occurred in Supermanzana 103, where it was reported that the house was used for scrap metal collection and possibly as a drug sales point.

Armed individuals on a motorcycle executed the couple on Monday morning on 52nd Street West in Supermanzana 103. Paramedics confirmed the victims were shot in the face and limbs.

The events took place around 9:15 a.m. on Monday, when two individuals on a motorcycle arrived at 52nd Street between 151st and 153rd, in front of block 36, where the victims were arriving at their house on a white Italika-type motorcycle.

At that moment, the gunmen shot the man, approximately 25 years old with a slim build, who was wearing a black t-shirt and pants, at point-blank range. He received one impact on the left side of his forehead, two on his cheekbone, and one on his neck, dying instantly, as confirmed by Civil Protection paramedics.

Minutes later, rescuers from the company Survival indicated that the woman, approximately 30 years old, had one impact on her face, another on her hand, one on her knee, and one more on her calf; she also died instantly. It appears she tried to run to save her life, as her body was found about 15 meters from where her partner was.

At the site, authorities confirmed that at least 15 spent shell casings and two live cartridges, all apparently from a .9-millimeter caliber handgun, were located. These were marked as evidence and integrated into the investigation file.

Some neighbors in the area stated that the occupants of this residence were dedicated to collecting scrap metal, although others indicated that the house was apparently used as a point of sale for narcotics, which is why it is not ruled out that this was a score-settling between criminal cells.

The bodies, currently unidentified, were transferred to the facilities of the Forensic Medical Service, where the legal autopsy will be performed. It is expected that their relatives will begin the procedures to claim them in the coming hours.
