Cancún, Quintana Roo — Residents discovered a dismembered body inside an abandoned refrigerator in Cancun’s Region 252 on Sunday, triggering a major police response and spreading panic through the neighborhood.
Local residents alerted authorities after finding the human remains inside the old appliance, which appeared to have been left at the site within recent hours. Municipal police officers arrived first to confirm the discovery, then cordoned off the area and restricted access to pedestrians and vehicles to preserve the scene for investigation.
The gruesome method of concealing the remains shocked local residents. Authorities have not yet released details about the victim’s identity or gender due to the condition of the body parts.
National Guard personnel and ministerial police agents soon joined the security operation while waiting for forensic teams to arrive. Investigators began preliminary interviews with neighborhood residents to determine if anyone witnessed suspicious activity or unfamiliar vehicles that might be connected to the abandoned body.
Forensic experts from the State Prosecutor’s Office processed the scene and transported the remains to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. This violent incident adds to a series of executions affecting Cancun’s outskirts, leaving Region 252 under strict surveillance as authorities work to identify both the victim and those responsible.
