Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — In observance of Senior Citizens Day, the Sistema para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia (DIF) has reaffirmed its commitment to the well-being, dignity, and inclusion of one of society's most valuable sectors: senior citizens, who were celebrated with a lively danzón dance and various recreational activities.

To this end, two emotional celebrations were held in the communities of Puerto Aventuras and Villas del Sol, where moments filled with joy, music, fellowship, and recognitions were experienced, honoring those who represent the experience, wisdom, and legacy of the community.

These actions are part of the municipal DIF's efforts to promote respect, inclusion, and the active participation of older adults, as well as to implement programs that strengthen their physical, emotional, and social health, recognizing their essential role within families and society.

The Honorary President of DIF Playa del Carmen, Eduardo Asencio, emphasized that this initiative is a clear demonstration of the institutional commitment to the health, dignity, and happiness of senior citizens.

“I deeply thank those who, with enthusiasm and dedication, joined in to make this noble event possible. Your participation reminds us that when there is a will to serve, great things are always achieved,” he expressed.

These actions reflect the firm commitment of the Municipal President of Playa del Carmen, Estefanía Mercado, who has promoted public policies focused on comprehensively improving the quality of life for the municipality's older adults.

“Today, on behalf of DIF Playa del Carmen, we celebrate the experience, wisdom, and love that you represent. Every year of life is a reason for pride and a lesson for new generations. You are an example of perseverance, struggle, and affection,” added Asencio Martínez.

With these actions, DIF Playa del Carmen continues to work towards a more humane, inclusive, and supportive society that recognizes and values those who have dedicated their lives to the service and development of their communities.

Present at the event were Jesús Rodríguez, Director General of DIF Playa del Carmen; Mtra. Barbara Alpuche Sánchez, Head of the State DIF Representation for the central zone; Barbara Delgado, Director of the Institute for Women; and councilwomen Josefina Muza and XelHa Dehesa.
