Cancún, Mexico — A digital platform delivery driver was shot in the early hours of Sunday in Cancún's Region 110, just meters from the Paseo Kusamil subdivision, an area under the surveillance of the State Secretariat of Citizen Security. The incident has reignited violence alerts in one of the areas where state police operate.
According to witnesses, the young man was socializing with a friend in front of a residence when armed individuals arrived in a vehicle, stopped in front of the property, and, without a word, opened fire. The victim fell to the ground with wounds to his shoulder and the lower part of his body.
Despite the permanent police presence in the zone, the assailants escaped without being apprehended. Following the attack, the delivery driver was transported in serious condition to the Cancún General Hospital, where he received medical attention.
The State Attorney General's Office has initiated corresponding investigations to determine the motive for the attack. Preliminarily, authorities are analyzing whether the case is related to alleged drug dealing activities or a possible settling of scores, although no official lines of investigation have been confirmed at this time.
