Bus driver hits cyclist in Cancún traffic accident

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A serious traffic accident occurred on Friday night on José López Portillo Avenue at the intersection with Carabanchel, when a Del Valle bus driver hit a cyclist who was returning home, causing him significant injuries. The incident happened around seven in the evening, heading toward Route 5, prompting the immediate mobilization of emergency services and authorities.

According to initial reports, the injured person was identified as José Alfredo “N,” who, based on a work credential, was leaving his shift and heading to his home in the Paraíso Maya area on his bicycle. Witnesses stated that the cyclist was traveling normally on the Portillo when the driver of the Del Valle company bus made a right turn without proper precautions, hitting him and dragging him several meters.

Authorities Investigate Responsibilities

After the report to emergency number 911, paramedics from a private corporation arrived at the scene to provide first aid. Due to the severity of the injuries, the man was urgently transported to the General Hospital, where he remains under specialized medical observation.

Minutes after the accident, traffic officers arrived to document the incident and conduct the corresponding investigation. The involved bus was secured and taken to an impound lot, while responsibility is being determined by the competent authorities.
