Fatal Shooting at Cancún Bank – Police Operation Launched

In Cancún, Quintana Roo, a man was tragically killed in a BBVA Bancomer bank during an armed assault. The incident occurred in broad daylight around 2:50 PM on September 16th, at the intersection of Tankah and Xpuhil avenues in Market 28. This prompted a swift response from all levels of government.

Multiple calls were made to the 911 emergency number, reporting gunfire inside the bank. The Citizen Security Secretariat was the first to respond, discovering a deceased man in the ATM area. The victim was dressed in a blue shirt and pants, white tennis shoes, and was carrying a black backpack. He was also wearing a helmet. Paramedics arrived on the scene but were unable to revive the man.

Eyewitnesses report that the victim was in the bank to make a withdrawal when he was confronted and shot by hitmen. The area was quickly secured by municipal police, with the National Guard, Navy, and Mexican Army providing additional security while waiting for the arrival of the forensics team from the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in Homicides.

Despite launching a search operation, the attackers remain at large. Forensic experts collected evidence at the scene, including an Italika motorcycle believed to belong to the victim, which was found in the bank's parking lot. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events and locate the perpetrators.
