Authorities in Quintana Roo are stepping up efforts to combat fraudulent real estate activities. They have identified 47 individuals and 11 companies falsely claiming to be accredited real estate advisors without proper authorization.
Nahielli Margarita Orozco Lozano, head of the Urban Development Secretariat of Benito Juárez, announced that this week alone, at least eight developments are expected to be shut down due to non-compliance with regulations. Four more are currently under investigation by the State Attorney General's Office.
Buyers are being urged to exercise caution when conducting any real estate transactions. This includes verifying the authenticity of documents, checking the legal status of properties in the Public Property Registry, and hiring attorneys who specialize in real estate law.
The Ministry of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development has trained over 200 service providers and real estate advisors, split evenly between Benito Juárez and Solidaridad.
The state's Directorate for the Procurement of Territorial Planning reported a 78% increase in the detection of irregular urban activities during the first half of this year, particularly in Tulum and Solidaridad.
