Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC) has extended an open invitation to the public for the inauguration of the collective art exhibition El Artista que Vive en Mi (The Artist Within Me), presented by the local group Hanal Pixán. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 28, at 7:00 p.m. at the Museo de la Isla, with free admission for all attendees.

A Celebration of Local Talent and Cultural Expression

FPMC General Director Juanita Alonso Marrufo emphasized that the exhibition aligns with initiatives led by Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, which aim to provide dignified spaces for local talent as part of the New Agreement for Wellbeing and Development of Quintana Roo. The foundation reaffirmed its commitment to fostering culture and art within the community.

Isela Carrillo Cupul, Director of the Museo de la Isla, explained that Hanal Pixán—meaning “Food for the Soul” in the Mayan language—is composed of community members who have found painting to be a new form of self-expression. The exhibition features works by 25 local artists of varying ages, each conveying emotions, experiences, and reflections through their art.

“This exhibition goes beyond technique; it is an authentic manifestation of the self and a personal search for meaning and connection,” Carrillo Cupul remarked. The curation of the pieces is overseen by architect Lidia Juárez.

Call for Community Participation

The FPMC encourages the public to attend the inauguration of El Artista que Vive en Mi on Wednesday, May 28, at 7:00 p.m. at the Museo de la Isla. Their presence will contribute to strengthening local culture and recognizing the artistic talent of the region.
