Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The island of Cozumel has exceeded one million cruise passengers in the first two months of 2026, with 330 ships docking at its port, according to reports from the Quintana Roo Port Administration and the General Directorate of Ports.

Data through March 11 shows an 18% increase in cruise arrivals compared to the same period in 2025, reinforcing Cozumel’s position as Mexico’s top cruise port and a key hub in the Caribbean.

The growth confirms Cozumel’s consolidation as a strategic point on maritime routes connecting the United States with western Caribbean destinations.

In 2025, the island recorded approximately 4.7 million passengers and over 1,300 arrivals, one of the highest figures in its recent history, solidifying its national leadership in cruise tourism.

Based on the current growth rate, tourism officials project that Cozumel could surpass five million cruise passengers by the end of 2026.

Cruise activity is a major economic driver for the island, generating business for local commerce, tours, transportation, restaurants, and recreational services, sectors heavily reliant on the steady flow of international visitors.

The uptick also highlights strong demand for the Mexican Caribbean on global cruise routes, where Cozumel maintains a strategic position alongside other western Caribbean ports.
