Cozumel, Mexico — The island of Cozumel has achieved a historic milestone by welcoming 1,502,727 cruise tourists during the first quarter of 2025, marking the highest recorded figure for this period in the destination’s history. The surge solidifies Cozumel’s position as one of the strongest hubs in the Mexican Caribbean.
Projections Point to Record-Breaking Year
Municipal authorities highlighted that this upward trend could lead to surpassing five million visitors by the end of 2025, exceeding the 4.6 million recorded in 2024. According to projections, collaboration with international cruise lines and the local tourism sector will be pivotal in achieving this goal.
During Cozumel’s participation in the international Seatrade Cruise Global 2025 fair, municipal representatives held meetings with cruise line executives, who reaffirmed their confidence in the destination due to its infrastructure, safety, and natural attractions.
Upcoming Cruise Arrivals
The Integral Port Administration of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo) announced the cruise schedule for the week of April 14–20, with 21 vessels expected to arrive, bringing an estimated 74,000 tourists. Thursday, April 17, will be the busiest day, with five ships docking and 18,297 passengers arriving.
One of the cruises will dock at Punta Langosta Pier, located just 450 meters from the island’s tourist center, a proximity expected to boost local economic activity and strengthen commercial operations along the waterfront and downtown area.
