Cozumel, Quintana Roo — During a press conference led by Marco Gutiérrez, president of the Asociación Cozumel a Caballo, it was announced that Cozumel native Guadalupe Gutiérrez Espinoza has been named national queen of the Federación México a Caballo, a recognition that highlights her longstanding connection to equestrian culture.
According to organizers, the title is awarded to young women who represent and promote Mexico’s equestrian traditions, particularly those involved in cabalgatas (organized horseback rides), which are deeply rooted in rural and regional culture across the country. These events often combine sport, heritage, and community participation, making them an important part of Mexico’s cultural identity.
Guadalupe’s selection reflects years of involvement in this world. From an early age, she has been closely connected to horses and has taken part in rides and equestrian events in different parts of Mexico, building a reputation within the community as both a participant and ambassador for the activity.
Local representatives emphasized that her appointment is not only a personal achievement, but also a point of pride for Cozumel. While the island is better known internationally for tourism and diving, groups like Asociación Cozumel a Caballo continue to promote traditional mainland practices such as horseback riding events, helping preserve cultural ties within the region.
Her new role as national queen is expected to include participation in equestrian events, public appearances, and promotional activities that support and elevate Mexico’s horseback riding traditions at both the local and national level.
