Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The island of Cozumel has been nominated in the Gastronomy category of the Magical Awards by Excelencias 2026, an international competition that recognizes projects preserving traditional cuisine and strengthening cultural identity.
The nomination places Cozumel’s culinary scene in the international spotlight, highlighting the richness of its ingredients, techniques, and culinary traditions that form part of the destination’s tourist appeal.
The Magical Awards by Excelencias are organized by the Excelencias Group, with the goal of promoting initiatives that advance gastronomic and cultural heritage in destinations worldwide.
The final verdict will be announced on April 28 during a gala ceremony at the Acapulco Convention Center, as part of the 2026 Tianguis Turístico tourism fair.
With this nomination, Cozumel aims to solidify its position as a gastronomic reference point, in addition to its established reputation as a sun-and-beach destination in the Mexican Caribbean.
