Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A man’s decomposing body was discovered inside a home in the Villas del Sol neighborhood after neighbors reported foul odors coming from the property.
The discovery occurred late Saturday night at the intersection of Búho Cornudo Street and Avenida Sur, near the fourth park in the residential area. Neighbors called authorities after noticing strong, unpleasant smells emanating from the house.
Police officers responded to the scene and confirmed the presence of a body in an advanced state of decomposition. They then requested agents and forensic specialists from the State Prosecutor’s Office to conduct an investigation.
According to neighbors on the street, the deceased was a man who apparently lived alone and had not been seen for several days.
The body was transported to the Forensic Medical Service facilities, where officials hope family members will come forward to claim it.
Police authorities have not yet provided additional details about the victim’s identity or the cause of death.
