Cozumel, Mexico — The Cozumel Island Museum will open its doors this Friday, November 21, at 8:00 p.m. to present "The Essence of Existence," a new pictorial exhibition by Cozumel-born artist Mónica Villalvazo Cámara. The exhibition is organized by the Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC), and admission will be completely free to the public.
Isela Carrillo Cupul, the director of the museum, highlighted that Villalvazo has forged her own artistic path as a self-taught artist, building a style distinguished by its profound connection with introspection, contemplation, and the search for inner beauty. The creator defines her process as an intimate space, stating, "When I paint, I am in silence with the world and in conversation with myself," a phrase that synthesizes the spirit of this exhibition.
An Immersive Exhibition on Life and Being
"The Essence of Existence" is comprised of seven large-format works, made up of a total of 23 pieces, in addition to a video and brief texts that accompany each creation. The collection invites visitors on a sensory journey that explores love, the expansion of the self, and the energy that connects all people.
According to Carrillo Cupul, this is a visual proposal that combines sensitivity, poetry, and reflection, inspired by family, emotions, and the spiritual connection that drives the author's work.
A Boost for Art and Cozumel's Cultural Identity
The general director of the FPMC, Juanita Alonso Marrufo, emphasized that this exhibition is part of the institution's permanent program to bring art closer to the community, foster local talent, and strengthen the cultural life of the island. This initiative is in line with the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, led by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa.
The FPMC calls on residents and visitors to attend the inauguration of "The Essence of Existence" this November 21 at the Cozumel Island Museum and to enjoy an artistic proposal that celebrates the connection between art, life, and the human essence.
