Emotional Art Exhibition Opens in Cozumel Museum

Artworks from 'The Essence of Existence' exhibition at the Island Museum in Cozumel

Cozumel, QRoo — The Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC) inaugurated the pictorial exhibition ‘The Essence of Existence’ by Cozumel artist Mónica Villalvazo at the Island Museum. The show features a selection of works created with acrylic techniques on canvas and wood that reflect the artist’s artistic evolution.

The event was led by FPMC General Director Juanita Alonso Marrufo, who was accompanied by Island Museum Director Isela Carrillo, institution advisors Ana López, Franco González, and Alejandro Queb, and museographer Satoko Kitamura.

During her speech, Juanita Alonso recognized Mónica Villalvazo’s authentic style, whose work invites viewers to live an emotional experience through strokes and compositions that vibrate with her sensitivity, achieved through mastery of color and spontaneity.

She reiterated the institution’s commitment to continue promoting local artistic creation and strengthening Cozumel’s cultural offerings through exhibitions that inspire, engage with the community, and strengthen the bond between art and island identity.

For her part, the artist expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to share this collection, which she defines as deeply intimate and spiritual, stating that “this collection is born from the soul and returns to the soul.” She affirmed that in each creative process, she encounters her purest essence, because when she paints, “her soul dances to the purest love.”

As part of the cultural evening, the Cozumel painter explained that the exhibition ‘The Essence of Existence’ is inspired by personal experiences, her family, and understanding, inviting the viewer to connect with their own emotional experience.

The artistic display includes the poetic narration of Marta Serramián and the musical ambiance by Dado André, elements that enrich the immersive experience of this visual proposal. The exhibition will remain open to the public at the Island Museum, where visitors and residents can enjoy a show filled with emotion, memory, and contemporary beauty.
