Cozumel, Quintana Roo — The Fundación de Parques y Museos de Cozumel (FPMC) marked International Women’s Day with a lively dance class at the BiblioAvión Gervasio, bringing together girls, young women, adults, and seniors to celebrate female energy and promote equality.
The event, organized by the institution’s Pedagogía y Asistencia Social (PAS) department, featured instructor Lupita Pantí from the Latin dance workshop, assisted by Diana Vidal and Wendy Bote. Dynamic choreographies and diverse musical rhythms energized participants, offering a safe and communal space for physical activity.
Attendees wore purple ribbons, symbolizing the fight for women’s rights and equal opportunities, adding significance to the gathering. The dance session aimed to boost confidence, encourage physical well-being, and strengthen bonds across generations.
FPMC Director General Juanita Alonso Marrufo emphasized that such initiatives align with the institution’s commitment to creating spaces that support women’s holistic well-being. She noted the event reflects the Nuevo Acuerdo por el Bienestar y Desarrollo de Quintana Roo, promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, which advocates for equality, respect, and female empowerment.
After the class, participants held a collective reflection on women’s strength, the importance of solidarity, and the right to live free from violence with equal opportunities for development. The event highlighted how such activities foster unity and mutual recognition among women.
One man also joined the class, dancing alongside the participants, demonstrating that equality and respect are built through shared experiences and acknowledgment of women’s value in society.
