Tulum, QR — Police have captured two individuals accused of the murder of a man from Akumal and are investigating them for the killing of a teenager in Tulum. Authorities stated that Pedro Antonio “N” and Juan Carlos “N” were arrested earlier this month for possession of drugs and weapons.
Pedro Antonio “N” and Juan Carlos “N” were initially detained for drug and weapon possession. Since their arrests, police have reported that they have been charged with one murder and are under investigation for a second, both within the Tulum municipality.
Authorities say they are being investigated for the shooting death of a teenager in Tulum on November 8, after having been accused of the murder of a man on October 30 in Akumal.
The State Attorney General’s Office reported that investigations continue into the aggravated homicide of a teenager, originally from the state of Yucatán, which occurred on November 8 of this year at an establishment located in the coastal zone of Tulum.
The Public Ministry informed that two male subjects, identified as Pedro Antonio “N” and Juan Carlos “N”, are being investigated for their probable involvement in aggravated homicide and drug dealing.
In a statement, authorities reported that Juan Carlos “N” has been charged with aggravated homicide. He has been accused of the shooting death of a business owner in Akumal that occurred on October 30 of this year outside a convenience store on Gonzalo Guerrero Avenue in Akumal.
A businessman from Akumal was shot and killed on October 30. His body was found outside a convenience store next to a restaurant he owned. According to police, Juan Carlos “N” allegedly shot and killed the victim. He then got into a Toyota vehicle driven by Pedro Antonio “N” and fled the scene.
At the time of their arrest on November 11, they were found in possession of several doses of drugs, as well as three firearms: two 9 mm caliber pistols and a .223 caliber long gun, police reported.
According to ballistic reports, one of their weapons matched the one used in the Akumal homicide.
Field investigations, office work, and technological analyses established that both accused individuals are also allegedly linked to the aggravated homicide of the teenager that occurred on November 8 of this year in the coastal zone of Tulum.
“According to the line of investigation, the motive for this incident would be related to disputes over drug sales, as the victim allegedly belonged to a rival criminal group operating in the region,” they said.
Police were at the scene of a fatal attack near Yaax Tulum, where a man was ambushed on November 8.
Pedro Antonio “N” and Juan Carlos “N” are under the precautionary measure of preventive detention, imposed for a term of two years or for the duration of the judicial process.
The State Attorney General’s Office reaffirms its commitment to truth and justice and states that investigations will continue until the facts are completely clarified and all those responsible appear before justice.
