Cancún, Quintana Roo — Cold Front 41 has stalled over the Yucatan Peninsula and the Caribbean Sea, bringing cloudy skies, heavy rainfall, and strong winds to Quintana Roo on Wednesday.
The weather system is expected to produce rainfall accumulations of 25 to 50 millimeters, accompanied by electrical activity, according to meteorological reports. Conditions will remain warm during the day but turn cool to mild overnight and at dawn.
An arctic air mass associated with the frontal system continues to generate a “Norte” event, with northeast wind gusts reaching 50 to 70 kilometers per hour, primarily along the state’s coastal areas.
These conditions are also causing elevated waves of 2 to 3 meters along the Quintana Roo coastline. Authorities are advising caution for small vessels and tourist activities at sea.
Nationally, a polar trough and moisture influx from the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Mexico are contributing to rainfall in several southeastern states, including Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo, as the cold air mass gradually begins to modify its characteristics.
