Promoting Civic Education Among Youth

The event, titled "Civic Seedbed," aimed to familiarize children with IEQROO's initiatives to foster civic education and citizenship-building. The participants were winners of the 2025 Child Parliament competition.

In her address, IEQROO President Rubí Pacheco Pérez encouraged the children to continue participating in such events and urged parents to support their involvement in similar activities organized by the institute.

She explained that IEQROO oversees elections in Quintana Roo for governor, municipal presidencies, and legislative seats while also promoting political culture through educational and recreational programs designed to teach children the importance of civic participation and democracy.

Encouraging Democratic Values

Electoral Councilor Elizabeth Arredondo Gorocica, in her remarks, acknowledged the efforts of parents, grandparents, and teachers in nurturing the children's talents, particularly their ability to articulate ideas publicly.

She emphasized that IEQROO promotes democratic values such as respect, tolerance, freedom, participation, integrity, justice, inclusion, and equality.

Electoral Councilor Juan César Hernández Cruz congratulated the young parliamentarians for their hard work in securing their places in the 12th Child Parliament. He reminded them of their responsibility as the present and future leaders of Quintana Roo and Mexico, urging them to embrace the experience as a transformative opportunity.

Interactive Learning Experience

The children participated in a survey on values conducted by the Political Culture Commission and engaged in a rotating workshop across four stations set up in the session hall. They also interacted with Beto Casillas, IEQROO’s mascot.

The visit underscored IEQROO’s commitment to fostering civic awareness and democratic participation from an early age.
