Playa del Carmen, Q. Roo — From tacos al pastor to gourmet sushi, Playa del Carmen’s diverse culinary scene is now just a scan away. The local chapter of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC) has unveiled an interactive map of gastronomic routes, designed to guide both visitors and locals through the rich variety of dining options across the city.
The routes, grouped by cuisine type and restaurant style—Yucatecan, Asian, international, and more—are accessible through strategically placed QR codes. By simply scanning the code with a mobile phone, users are taken to a digital map that not only highlights themed restaurant trails but also provides detailed profiles of each establishment and a mapped route for easy navigation.

The initiative was introduced during international tourism events, including FITUR 2025 in Spain, where it generated buzz among global tourism professionals. Locally, the rollout included a creative touch: attendees received fan-shaped brochures with QR codes linking directly to the interactive map and restaurant directory.
“This is more than just a list of restaurants,” said Manuel García Maldonado, director of CANIRAC Playa del Carmen. “It’s an invitation to explore the flavors of our region and celebrate the passion and creativity of our culinary community.”
Backed by the Secretaría de Turismo and powered by the collective efforts of affiliated restaurants, the project aims to position Playa del Carmen not only as a beach paradise but as a world-class culinary destination. The campaign is now live on CANIRAC Playa’s social media platforms, where food lovers can begin their delicious journey through the heart of the Riviera Maya.
