Cancún to Host Fairs and Festivals to Boost Local Economy

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A series of fairs, festivals, and events over the coming weeks aim to create a circular economy in Cancún by encouraging local and tourist spending that supports micro and small businesses, as well as artisans.

Juan Pablo de Zulueta Razo, the municipal secretary of tourism, announced that this weekend the Guelaguetza caravan will take place at Parque de las Palapas, an event expected to boost the local economy and potentially surpass the 2 million pesos generated last year.

Organized by regions of Oaxaca, these events are highly popular. The Guelaguetza caravan will run from July 23 to 26 at Parque de las Palapas, with an estimated attendance of 40,000 people.

Zulueta also highlighted the upcoming Pizza Fest, which was very successful last year and will be held from July 31 to August 2.

These strategies, along with some sporting events, contribute to the circular economy and support productive sectors, artisans, producers, and businesses in generating economic activity.

Meanwhile, the city is working with the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ) and the hotel and business sectors to continue participating in international fairs, such as the Argentina Tourism Fair in September and the Travel Mart, which brings wholesalers and operators from tourist source countries.
