Entrance of a correctional facility with a guard tower, high walls, barbed wire, and a small security checkpoint.

Inmates at the Social Reintegration Center (Cereso) in Cancún have reported experiencing mistreatment and sexual abuse. They allege that the abuse is perpetrated by the head of Penitentiary Security, Sergio Alcalá Ancona.

According to the inmates, Ancona offers "privileges" in return for coerced sexual acts. These incidents are said to take place during the night or when other staff members are not present.

The inmates who claim to be victims of this abuse have called for intervention from the authorities and feminist groups.
