Cancún arrest reveals human trafficking suspect on the run

Cancún, Mexico — The Cancún police detained a man who had outstanding legal issues. Antonio “N” allegedly attempted to evade officers during a surveillance patrol, and it was later confirmed that he was wanted in Playa del Carmen for the crime of human trafficking.

According to a statement, the arrest occurred after the motorcyclist performed suspicious maneuvers upon noticing the presence of officers from the Centurión Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security.

Police Detect Evasive Behavior

The incident took place on José López Portillo Avenue, heading towards Nichupté Avenue, between the Valle Verde and Las Pencas neighborhoods.

According to the report, the driver accelerated to avoid police presence, leading officers to signal him to stop.

When caught, the suspect began insulting the officers and, upon dismounting the motorcycle, attempted to physically assault them.

The officers proceeded with his detention and secured a red Italika motorcycle as well as a cell phone.

After the arrest, Antonio “N” was placed at the disposal of the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office for the corresponding legal process.

Detainee Had Active Warrant

During data verification on the Mexico Platform, it was confirmed that the detainee had an active arrest warrant, issued on July 14, 2023, in Playa del Carmen, for his alleged involvement in a human trafficking case.

Finally, with this action, authorities highlighted the importance of preventive work and strategic patrols to detect risky behaviors and detain wanted individuals.
