Mayor Launches Weekly Cancún Family Fun on Tajamar

Cancún — Dozens of families gathered to enjoy biking, skating, and running as Mayor Ana Paty Peralta led the ninth edition of the "Paseo Cancunense" community event, held for the first time on a six-kilometer circuit along the emblematic Tajamar Boardwalk.

"We seek to generate family togetherness, to create recreational spaces where Cancún residents can go for a Sunday stroll with their families. We wanted to hold this edition on the Tajamar Boardwalk to enjoy the lagoon and the spectacular views," said the Municipal President, Ana Paty Peralta, in a statement.

In an interview, the Mayor announced that plans are being developed to hold the event every Sunday in the upcoming year of 2026, with the goal of establishing it as a permanent recreational pathway for the benefit of Cancún's residents.

She specified that the objective is to provide families in Cancún with a weekly weekend alternative, promoting the practice of sports activities and healthy social interaction by walking, biking, skating, and even including their pets.

As part of this edition, the Mayor participated in the painting of a mural by "Distrito Cancún" on one of the monuments within the Tajamar Boardwalk. She also visited various stands featuring local restaurants and merchants, play areas run by municipal departments, and the "Adoptafest," an event aimed at finding homes for dogs and cats.

Héctor Sánchez Tirado, the head of the Municipal Institute of Planning and Urban Development (IMPLAN), noted that other countries, such as Colombia, have world-renowned recreational pathways that have been properly consolidated for 50 years, serving as examples of good government practices.
