Cancún, Mexico — Sofía Guzmán Cárdenas, a young influencer from Cancún, was attacked by her former partner, a physician anesthesiologist identified as Héctor "N," on November 25, 2024. From that day to the present, she has had to fight to obtain justice. She now denounces that while her aggressor remains free despite being accused of attempted femicide, fabricated charges have been filed against her.
The assault against the young content creator occurred at the Residencial Aqua, and there are witnesses to the event, including security personnel from the location. According to the victim's testimony, the physician Héctor "N" attacked her with a hammer, dragged her through the room, asphyxiated her with his knees, and pushed her and her small dog Pichi, who tried to defend her, down the stairs. Not content with that, he repeatedly threw her against a vehicle.
Now, not only has her case file for attempted femicide been stalled for four months, but she also faces complaints for assault, extortion, and even theft. Sofía Guzmán asserts that these crimes are fabricated. She claims that thanks to the influence and economic resources of her aggressor and his family, who are physicians, she now has to hide because there may be an arrest warrant against her for the fabricated crimes.
There May Be More Victims of the Alleged Aggressor
In an interview with Quinta Fuerza, Sofía Guzmán recounted the difficult situation she has endured since her attack. It has not only meant fighting for justice and against the corruption of some officials but has also left her with physical and emotional scars, in addition to all the legal expenses.
And although she has received support from the state attorney general, Raciel López Salazar, and from the municipal president of Benito Juárez, Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña, she hit a wall with an official inside the Attorney General's Office. This official allegedly harassed her and requested a sexual relationship in exchange for expediting her case file. Because she rejected him, her case has been stalled for months.
"My attempted femicide case file has been stopped for four months because the femicide prosecutor has not requested the hearing because it's always Friday, because it's always a holiday, because he always has some excuse, and at the beginning he did support me. I think there's a bit of resentment there because of that incident (because he asked me to have relations). I have WhatsApp messages where he tells me 'you look so beautiful' or things like that," detailed the victim.
During this time, Sofía Guzmán has also learned that there may be at least two other victims of the physician who attacked her, her former partner Héctor "N." One of them filed a complaint, and the other did not for fear of reprisals.
To this must be added that, according to the victim herself, her aggressor allegedly has problems with substance abuse and medical malpractice, which was reportedly flagged by staff at the Amerimed hospital, where he worked.
"I need to at least make all of this as viral as possible because we are dealing with an anesthesiologist with a criminal record that has already been established, with addictions. I mean, he is a danger to health and especially to healthcare personnel," stated the Cancún influencer, Sofía Guzmán.
"He once came on his knees to beg me, saying he was becoming very addicted to cocaine and I said, 'I'm not going to leave him alone, let's go to a rehabilitation clinic'… We agreed he would stay for 30 days and he only stayed for three; he went straight to my house… And when he realized I wasn't happy that he left, he decided to get upset and told me, 'No, it must have been you, you wanted to put me in jail.' Well, normal behaviors of a drug addict," she detailed.
Complaints of Fabricated Crimes
Sofía Guzmán's complaint for attempted femicide has been frozen for four months, especially after she rejected the femicide prosecutor's proposition to have a sexual relationship. However, the investigations that have advanced are those of the case files against her.
She is accused of assaulting the pregnant sister of her former partner, but also of theft and extortion. The Cancún influencer denies the allegations and affirms that the crimes were fabricated. She states that even the accusers have made contradictory statements.
To this must be added that the alleged aggressor has supposedly attempted to bribe witnesses in the case, the security guards of Residencial Aqua. All of this has resulted in Sofía Guzmán being unable to even go out on the street because there may be an arrest warrant against her. This has increased her stress levels and produced panic attacks.
"I couldn't go back into the house and he saw me all bloodied and his statement is also there, and there is also a medical expert report from the same Attorney General's Office that was done that day which shows all my injuries. And in a video that he records, you can see him entering the house, you see my things thrown about, you see the sister of my aggressor, who is accusing me of injuries, arguing that I hit her in the stomach while she was pregnant and that she had to go to the emergency room because she was about to lose her life and that of her baby," she recounted.
"That is why they opened this case file for injuries, and the one for theft. In this video he is also commenting that I stole 700,000 pesos, then in his statement he says one million pesos. In the statements they say things totally different from what he says in the video that was recorded by the police officer. Precisely because he realized what they were doing to me."
She adds that "this video disproves that I did not hit her in the stomach while she was pregnant and also that the theft story doesn't match anything he says in the case file because, furthermore, he has no proof either that I hit her, or that she was unwell."
She emphasizes that even the police officer asks the pregnant woman if she has any problem and she never mentions an assault, that she is unwell, or that she needs medical attention.
"This video, I submitted it to the Attorney General's Office along with all my evidence, my medical expert reports, psychological reports; there are about eight witnesses. And well, that's how these case files for theft and injuries are fabricated against me. I found out about these case files from the Attorney General's Office, but I never found out that I was also being charged with the crime of extortion."
And once Sofía Guzmán learned she had this other case file against her, she decided to hide and even not appear at a hearing because she knew about the arrest warrant for her.
She Demands Justice and Wants to Reclaim Her Life
Finally, Sofía Guzmán says she is so physically, emotionally, and economically drained by the situation that she even sought to reach an agreement with the alleged aggressor, but he and his lawyers have refused. She states they are angry because she has come forward to denounce the case in the media.
"I am so drained that I tried to make an agreement with them; it is she who denounces me for extortion and injuries, but he for theft. So, I found out that they issued an arrest warrant for me, that is why I am trying to make all of this viral so that it reaches the authorities and they can be fair. I have a lot of evidence, many videos, reports, medical, expert reports, WhatsApp messages, I have everything and they have absolutely nothing and even so my case file is the one that is stopped and theirs proceeded quite quickly."
She adds that she never would have wanted the details of her private life to become so public, but it is what she has had to endure in this fight for justice, where she has good days and others where she feels like giving up.
"There are other days I wake up and I swear I've had suicidal thoughts, which clearly is not me because I would never do something like that to myself. All of this has affected my emotional state, my hair is falling out, I've lost weight. Besides, they haven't let me heal because I'm busy defending myself from these case files for crimes I did not commit and that are solely a legal strategy to pressure me," she laments.
She adds that she now also deals with attacks from people on social media. There are people who judge and criticize her without knowing her story. For example, she has been attacked because she once had an adult content page, but that does not make her any less a victim of attempted femicide.
"I don't like the world knowing what I am going through and in turn receiving negative comments from people who speak without knowing. They made me look like a criminal. I am very mentally, economically, physically drained, but I have no other choice but to continue. My only intention is to obtain my peace, for him to face the consequences, and that's it, for them to let me rebuild my life because this has been going on for a year. A week ago they shared some articles saying that a Cancún influencer and OnlyFans model extorted, robbed, and assaulted a family of doctors and so on," concluded Sofía Guzmán.
