Cancún, Quintana Roo — Dozens of participants gathered at Parque Cancún on Sunday for the third edition of the Carrera de Tacones con Causa (Heels Race for a Cause), a charity event held to mark International Women’s Day and raise funds for a local girl’s medical treatment.

The event began around 7:00 a.m. with three competition categories open to women, men, and families, creating an atmosphere of community and solidarity. The first race featured a 100-meter sprint in 10-centimeter heels, followed by a 200-meter race in 5-centimeter heels, where participants demonstrated balance, speed, and good humor.

Organizers also held a recreational 2.5-kilometer run in sneakers, open to the general public who preferred a conventional race within the park circuit.

Prizes were awarded to the top three finishers in each category, along with special recognition for the best attire themed around the celebration of women, adding creativity and color to the competition. A raffle was conducted among all registered participants, who paid a registration fee directed toward the event’s charitable cause.

Proceeds from this year’s edition will benefit Victoria Zar, a girl facing mobility issues in both hands, with the funds supporting her treatments and therapies.

The Carrera de Tacones con Causa was organized to promote physical activity, family bonding, and solidarity, while highlighting the importance of International Women’s Day in recognizing the fight for women’s rights and equality.
