Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Poliforum in this vibrant city will host the inaugural "Cancún Challenge 2025," a four-team preseason basketball tournament scheduled from June 26 to June 28. The event, featuring prominent teams from Mexico’s Liga Caliente.Mx LNBP, will offer free admission to all spectators.
Teams and Schedule
The participating teams include El Calor de Cancún, Soles de Mexicali, Dorados de Chihuahua, and Halcones de Xalapa. Roberto Alvarado, General Manager of El Calor de Cancún, expressed enthusiasm during the press conference, announcing that all games would be free to the public as a way to "reward the loyalty and support" of fans. He promised an authentic basketball celebration.
The tournament will begin on Thursday, June 26, with the first game at 5:30 PM between Soles de Mexicali and Dorados de Chihuahua. The second game, featuring El Calor de Cancún against Halcones de Xalapa, will follow at 8:30 PM. The third-place match will take place on Friday, June 27, with the championship game scheduled for Saturday, June 28.
Fan Engagement Activities
Beyond the games, organizers have planned several recreational activities for attendees. On June 26, a "Coaches Clinic: Ask the Experts" will be held, featuring renowned basketball coaches. A youth clinic is set for June 27, followed by an autograph session with players from the participating teams.
Pepe Pidal, Head Coach of El Calor de Cancún, emphasized that the tournament aims to strengthen the bond with fans while serving as high-level preparation for the teams. He assured that the event would be taken "with the seriousness it deserves."
The organizing committee invites the public to enjoy a weekend filled with sports and entertainment.
