Cancún, Quintana Roo — Authorities in Cancún will implement a series of road closures from February 12 to 17 to accommodate the city’s 2026 Carnival celebrations and ensure public safety.
The Benito Juárez municipal government has organized festivities throughout the week, with traffic police officers managing road closures and providing assistance to drivers seeking alternative routes.
Park de las Palapas Closure
On February 12 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., authorities will close sections around Park de las Palapas for the traditional “Burning of Bad Humor” ceremony. Full closures will affect Gladiolas Street adjacent to the park, while traffic controls will be implemented on Tulum Avenue to maintain pedestrian safety.
Tulum Avenue Parade Route
From February 14 to 17 between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., Tulum Avenue will host the main parade featuring floats and marching groups. Floats will begin on Chichén Itzá Avenue at 5:30 p.m., proceeding along Tulum Avenue to arrive in front of City Hall by 6:30 p.m. Marching groups will enter via Tulipanes Walkway toward Park de las Palapas.
Tajamar Boardwalk Concerts
Concerts scheduled from February 13 to 16 between 11:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. will affect access to the Tajamar Boardwalk along Rambla Avenue. Vehicle access will be restricted to Nichupté Avenue only for parking, with closures on Aranjuez Avenue and surrounding areas near the dance floor.
Beto Ávila Stadium Final Concert
The closing concert on February 17 will prompt a full closure of Mayapán Avenue in both directions from Yaxchilán Avenue to Kabah Avenue from 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Traffic filters will be installed at intersections with Xcaret Avenue and La Costa Avenue to control vehicle flow. The concert begins at 10:00 p.m.
