Teen Cyclist from Cancún Qualifies for National Championship

Jethro Brito, a 13-year-old cyclist from Cancún

Cancún, Quintana Roo — In recent years, athletes from Quintana Roo have been increasing their achievements at the national level, while the number of Caribbean athletes who are national references in their disciplines and categories also grows daily, as is beginning to be the case with 13-year-old Cancún cyclist Jethro Brito.

This young athlete, who recently joined the development program ‘Lyncott of the A.R. Monex Pro Cycling Team,’ one of the most important high-performance development programs in the country, qualified last weekend for the Classification Championship towards the CONADE National Olympics 2026 in Mountain Biking.

Jethro Brito obtained second place at the state level in the MTB Precadet category, representing Benito Juárez, a result that granted him his pass to the national event that will take place from March 4 to 10 in Guadalajara, in the 5-kilometer distance.

It should be noted that the Cancún native does not only excel in cycling, as he will also be competing in the disciplines of Triathlon and Duathlon, with the goal of participating in the National Olympics 2026, disciplines in which he won medals last year.

Additionally, Jethro Brito is the only representative of Quintana Roo within the A.R. Monex program, an institution recognized for training elite cyclists with international projection, strengthening his preparation with specialized training, technical accompaniment, and a comprehensive sports development process.

Similarly, he has had triumphs in the Cozumel ASTRI Triathlon and Xel-Há 2025, as well as the National Duathlon Championship 2025 and other regional cycling competitions.
