bus full of workers overturns in tulum

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A bus transporting hotel workers overturned on Federal Highway 307 along the Tulum–Felipe Carrillo Puerto stretch, about 1.5 kilometers from the entrance to Tulum International Airport, according to the first reports from the scene.

Initial accounts described multiple injured people and others trapped inside the vehicle. The bus had set out from the community of Señor and was carrying workers to the Sirenis hotel complex.

A broadcast from the site said more than 30 people were hurt, a figure that still requires official confirmation. The same report warned of serious injuries and possible fatalities. So far no official tally has confirmed the number of victims or their condition.

State Police officers were already at the scene, while those reporting the crash called for ambulances, firefighters and National Guard personnel to treat the injured and free those trapped inside the bus.

The cause of the rollover remains unclear. Preliminary reports indicated that the driver was not at the scene, a claim authorities have yet to verify as part of the investigation.
