Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — Three individuals were hospitalized with neck injuries following a rear-end collision involving two vehicles in Puerto Aventuras. Emergency responders and police personnel were dispatched to the crash site on the federal highway on Tuesday.
Details of the Collision
A passenger van traveling along the Playa del Carmen-Puerto Aventuras route was struck from behind by a cargo truck near the entrance to the federal highway. The accident occurred at the base of the city’s overpass leading to the highway. Preliminary reports indicate that the cargo truck driver experienced brake failure while approaching the van, which had yielded.
The impact caused significant damage to the rear of the van, including a shattered window. The cargo truck, bearing license plates from Yucatán, belonged to an ice company. Three occupants of the cargo truck were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Traffic Disruptions and Emergency Response
Due to the collision, the adjacent highway lane near the overpass was temporarily closed as emergency services attended to the injured and the National Guard towed the vehicles away.
