Cancún. A lifeless body, showing signs of violence, was located tonight inside a cistern situated in an abandoned lot in Supermanzana 65 of this city.
The discovery occurred around 10 p.m., after residents of block 6 reported to 911 the location of a body at the bottom of a cistern located on Francisco I. Madero Avenue (Route 4), at the intersection with 9th Street.
Upon arriving at the site, Municipal Police officers confirmed the report and proceeded to cordon off the area.
Due to the complexity of the location, as the body was found at approximately five meters deep, the intervention of the Fire Department was necessary. Its Urban Rescue team performed specialized maneuvers to extract the corpse.
The Route 4 roadway was completely closed between Tulum and Bonampak Avenues while municipal, state, and federal authorities maintained perimeter security.
According to initial data gathered at the site, the corpse showed visible signs of violence; however, it has not yet been confirmed whether the injuries were caused by a firearm or a bladed weapon.
The victim’s body was transported to the Forensic Medical Service as an unidentified person.
