Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The body of a man aged roughly 30 to 35 was found Thursday afternoon near the Arco Vial, close to the Villamar II neighborhood, prompting a response from police, paramedics and state investigators.
Police officers arrived after the report and cordoned off the area to preserve possible evidence. An ERUM ambulance crew also responded and confirmed the man showed no signs of life.
Identity and Cause of Death Under Investigation
Preliminary information indicates the body was well preserved, suggesting the death occurred recently. Officials have not said how long the man had been at the scene.
His identity had not been established, and the circumstances and cause of death remain under investigation, according to the State Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities have not disclosed whether the body showed injuries or any other evidence pointing to how he died.
Prosecutor’s office personnel took charge of the scene and the removal of the body, which was transferred to the forensic medical service, where examinations are expected to determine the cause of death and help establish his identity.
