Tulum Hosts Urban Art, Rap and Breakdance Gathering to Promote Non-Violence

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Young people aged 12 to 29 gathered at Parque Dos Aguas in Tulum for the Urban Art, Rap and Breakdance for Non-Violence event, an initiative aimed at promoting artistic expression, social interaction and a culture of peace.

During the session, the park became a stage for urban culture, with rap and breakdance taking center stage as participants showcased their skills and shared experiences with other young people from the municipality.

The event aimed to create alternatives for youth engagement that help prevent violence. Organizers sought to offer younger generations public spaces where they could develop their talents and channel their creativity through music, dance and urban art.

The Department of Equity and Gender of the Tulum City Council, headed by Anahí Bates, organized the gathering to use artistic and cultural expression as tools to promote values such as respect, coexistence and non-violence among adolescents and young adults.

Local performers and young enthusiasts came together for the event, which also featured competition and exchange. Moreno Flame MX hosted the gathering, while Jfren, Zero, Gbran and Mac Freddy MX judged the presentations.

David Manances “Fili” Tah Balam, first councilman of the Tulum City Council, attended the event and highlighted the importance of creating spaces where new generations can express themselves and develop their abilities through artistic, cultural and sporting activities. Tah Balam said such initiatives strengthen coexistence among young people and provide positive ways to use public spaces, while conveying a message of violence prevention and peace.
