Cozumel Boat Fire Injures Five, Governor Updates

Cozumel, Quintana Roo — A boat fire at Marina Fonatur in Cozumel resulted in five injuries, with Governor Mara Lezama confirming that all affected individuals are receiving medical attention and are in stable condition.

The incident occurred at 11:00 a.m. at Asipona Cozumel, also known as Marina Fonatur on the island of Quintana Roo. According to a statement from the Naval Sector, the accident happened during fuel manipulation, causing an explosion that injured five crew members on board.

Firefighters and paramedics were immediately called, and the injured were transported to the Naval Sector and AMERIMED Clinic for treatment.

Governor Lezama stated that the five injured are already being attended to, with no serious cases reported, and necessary support for medical expenses and recovery will be provided. Families have been contacted to be with them and ensure their well-being.
