Cancún’s 2026 Recycling Calendar: 23 Dates Announced

Official announcement of Reciclatón Cancún 2026 calendar by Benito Juárez Municipality

Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Ecology Department of Benito Juárez Municipality has announced the calendar for the 23 events of the “Reciclatón Cancún 2026” program, where citizens can deliver materials suitable for recycling.

Through a statement, it was announced that the first “Reciclatón” event is scheduled for Saturday, January 10, while the last will take place on December 12.

“Citizens who have properly separated materials are invited to attend the eight locations that will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at different points in the city, including: the plaza of the Quintana Roo Secretariat of Education (SEQ), Pabellón Cumbres, CONALEP II, Walmart Polígono Sur, Gran Plaza, Chedraui Lak’in, Casino Jubilee, and Chedraui Multiplaza Chac Mool (Santa Fe),” details the statement.

During the events, Cancún residents can deposit various types of recyclable materials in containers, including: PET 1 and HDPE 2 plastic bottles, paper, cardboard, tetra pak, aluminum, electronics, scrap metal, plastic bags (beach), bottle caps, textiles (clothing and linens), vegetable cooking oil, and eco-bricks. In the case of eco-bricks, these can only be deposited at the Gran Plaza location.

Due to the handling they require, certain materials have deposit limits: glass containers, only 10 kilograms per person; alkaline batteries, maximum one kilogram per person; energy-saving light bulbs, maximum 8 pieces per person; motor oil, only two liters per person; and cigarette butts, maximum one kilogram per person, concludes the municipal government statement.
