In a shocking incident, over 15 gunshots were fired at the facade of the Emporio bar, and a car was set ablaze with Molotov cocktails. This violent attack took place on Saturday night at superblock 228, prompting a swift response from authorities across all levels of government.
At around 8:00 PM, a 911 emergency call reported that two individuals on a black motorcycle had pulled up in front of the nightclub, located at the intersection of 79th Street and Niños Héroes Avenue. One individual started firing shots, while the other threw two Molotov cocktails at a car parked nearby.
The emergency response was immediate, with a red code activated due to initial reports suggesting people were inside the nightclub at the time of the attack. However, upon arrival, authorities found that the bar staff had already evacuated all customers. They reported that no one had been injured, thus paramedics were not required on the scene.
Initial investigations revealed at least 15 spent shells from a short firearm, possibly of .9 millimeter caliber. These were marked as evidence. Reports also indicated that a Mercury-branded vehicle had suffered front-end damage due to the explosive device.
Municipal Police officers quickly cordoned off the area, diverting traffic to alternate routes. Meanwhile, other authorities launched a manhunt for the attackers. Witnesses described one attacker as wearing a balaclava, while the other was dressed in dark clothing. Despite the swift response and search operation, the attackers managed to evade capture.
