Puerto Morelos, Mexico — Ministerial authorities secured a property allegedly connected to drug sales in the Villas la Playa subdivision of Puerto Morelos. The operation, which caused a stir among neighbors due to the heavy deployment of armed agents, was carried out by elements of the State Attorney General's Office (FGE), with support from the National Guard.
The agents entered a house located on Privada Nutria, a short distance from Avenida Timón, to execute a search warrant issued by the Special Prosecutor's Office Combating Retail Drug Dealing.
The intervention took place on Saturday night as part of a series of actions focused on combating drug trafficking in residential areas of the municipality. Neighbors reported observing the arrival of several official trucks and agents who surrounded the house marked with the number 23, block 11. The property, with a facade painted entirely black, was meticulously reviewed by investigators.
The following morning, residents noticed that the premises already displayed seizure seals placed by the ministerial authority. People living in the area stated they were unaware of the activities conducted in that house, though they acknowledged having seen suspicious movement and visits late at night in recent months.
The Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security confirmed it did not participate in the operation, which is part of an FGE investigation related to recent arrests for retail drug dealing in Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos.
Just last Thursday, the Attorney General's Office reported the capture of five individuals accused of distributing retail drugs in both municipalities, allegedly members of the same criminal group. Among those detained are David "N", apprehended on Avenida de Las Palmas while handling small bags of marijuana, and Erick Emir "N", captured in Puerto Morelos with a portion of the same narcotic.
Federal authorities also maintain open investigations regarding this type of crime. Last June, the Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR) secured a house in the 23 de Enero neighborhood of Puerto Morelos, where four people—Daniel H., Dante L., Miguel R., and Victoria O.—were detained with a firearm and various doses of cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana. All were remanded to custody for crimes against health and possession of a firearm.
